Well now is your chance to be apart of a movement that will without a doubt make history. Fly Lady Di herself will be there battling for her crown. Come support not only a great artist who is doing it on her own but the movement of LIVE ARTS in NYC.

For The Love of Poetry Show in NYC
My man Mic Barber hosts this show called "For The Love of Poetry". They got a show coming up in April at BOGARTS. You gonna know that name sooner than you think, both Mr. Barbers and FTLOP. Check out the website, they got pics, vids, blog and a few other things that will spark interest.
This is a vid of a great poet and performer "MRJEFFDEFF". He performed at FTLOP not to long ago. He has a deep book of poetry out which I read and enjoyed thoroughly. You can go to his website to view and purchase. www.mrjeffdeff.com

Fly Lady Di Writes....
In an attempt to add a more personal touch to this blog... I felt I should write some randomness!
RANDOM THOUGHTS BY FLY LADY DI
Today I had to take the '5' train instead of the '2' train Uptown. It was madness!
I hate waiting for people. I had scheduled an appointment with someone who wants me to do his logo today. I told him to meet me at the Starbuck's on 75th and Broadway. He takes the 'C' train to 72nd, and then walked across the park to the other side of Manhattan! (Yes, he thought Broadway was the other side of the Park). I ended up leaving after an hour (or two). What a waste of a SUNDAY! That got me pretty vexed.
A lot of cornball tourists in the City today, but what else is nu?
I'm fasting (doing the master-cleanse... again), and I only got $18 to my name, plus all my peeps are in Miami so it's been pretty lonely lately ;(. I've been plugging away at mad paintings lately at the crib, and renting movies (something I haven't done in a while). I finally copped 'Baadasssss!' - a film made by my homie Mario Van Peebles. If it wasn't for that movie, I would have never met him and we would have never become friends. I approached him on some fan stuff at Lotus when I used to work there, and we hit it off immediately and have been friends ever since -- must be a Capricorn thang! Holla ;).
Okay... I don't wanna bore heads with my randomness. That's all for now, stay tuned for more..... la-uh ('later' with an English accent).

Takashi Murakami Exhibit @ the BKLYN Museum
This is the artist who did those colorful LV hand bags about 2-3 years ago. You probably know him from the KanYe "Graduation" artwork though. A truly innovative artist with his own style. He is a great inspiration to the new artists out there. Please support and dont forget "FRESH PRODUCE" coming soon.
Exhibit at The Brooklyn Art Museum April 5th - July 13th. Check it out.
Bio:
The most comprehensive retrospective to date of the work of internationally acclaimed Japanese artist Takashi Murakami includes more than ninety works in various media that span the artist’s entire career, installed in more than 18,500 square feet of gallery space.
Born in Tokyo in 1962, Murakami is one of the most influential and acclaimed artists to have emerged from Asia in the late twentieth century, creating a wide-ranging body of work that consciously bridges fine art, design, animation, fashion, and popular culture. He received a Ph.D. from the prestigious Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, where he was trained in the school of traditional Japanese painting known as Nihonga, a nineteenth-century mixture of Western and Eastern styles. However, the prevailing popularity of anime (animation) and manga (comic books) directed his interest toward the art of animation because, as he has said, “it was more representative of modern day Japanese life.” American popular culture in the form of animation, comics, and fashion are among the influences on his work, which includes painting, sculpture, installation, and animation, as well as a wide range of collectibles, multiples, and commercial products.

KanYe West - "Good Morning" Video
GOOD MORNING 2001 from kwest on Vimeo.
This is the "Good Morning" video from the listening "experience" held last year in New York City. KanYe made a special video for each joint off the album. For Sure the most innovative listening I have been to thus far. It was theatre seating with a light show and popcorn flied out from Chicago. I guess when you pre-sell GOLD you can do that. Viva La Ye!
New Janet video - "Rock With U"
This record is crazy. Favorite joint on the album. Written by Shafer, produce by Jermaine. GET YOUR EURO's UP!!!

Fly Lady Di
Get Familiar! She has done more for the live arts movement in the past few years then most will do in a lifetime. A true inspiration for all you young innovators out there. After reading her bio, I had to throw my b.s. excuses right out the window.
“Of all the painting styles created within the last century, Cubism and Graffiti influence my work the most. I have always been drawn to Hip-Hop culture or anything that was raw and expressive. This is often reflected in my work by my choice of bright colors, outlined with black - which as a golden rule is forbidden by most art teachers – yet I feel that it succeeds at giving my work both a fragmented yet cohesive quality to it.” -- Diana "Fly Lady Di" Reyes
(Excert from bio)
In March of 2004 she moved to NYC from Canada at the age of 22 in pursuit of her dreams of becoming a well established visual artist. She worked for 4 years without papers until January of 2006 when she was discovered by a U.S. Immigrations officer at the airport and deported back to Canada until she obtained her working papers. Still believing in her dreams, she threw herself back into her artwork and posted her story along with many of her pieces on myspace. The reaction was tremendous so she decided to sell printouts of her work in an effort to raise money for her visa. In December of 2006 she had earned enough money to get her visa and return to NYC in pursuit of her dreams. 2 years later, she is teaming up with By Any Means to bring you "Fresh Produce".
Since returning to the states, Fly Lady Di has been painting live in SOLD OUT shows all around NYC. These shows have been posted in New York Magazine (Critics Pick), Village Voice (Voice Choice), going.com (Editor’s Choice), and Time Out NY, just to name a few. Fly lady Di herself has been featured in many websites including but not limited to: Trace Magazine (ABOVE), Live Mechanics, Pulpmag.net and Devientart.com. Stories have been published on her in Tribe Magazine, One2One Magazine “America’s Most Eligible” and Basement Magazine “Donuts are Forever 2: J Dilla Tribute”.
